Breaking all box-office records of Marathi film industry, Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat has become highest first-week Marathi grosser of all-time by making Rs 25.25 crore. Meanwhile, looking at the huge response, the number of shows per week of Sairat has been increased from 8,500 in the first week to 14,000 in the second week.
Earlier, Nana Patekar-starrer Natsamrat had the record of grossing highest collection of Rs 15 crore at the box office in the first week. Natsamrat had made a little over Rs 10 crore in the opening weekend.
But Sairat broke its record by making Rs 12.10 crore in the opening weekend and Rs 25.25 crore in the first week, thus breaking all previous records of Marathi films. As per reports, the film’s collection is likely to cross Rs 50 crore in the coming week.
Written and directed by Nagraj Manjule, Sairat stars debutants Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in the lead roles.
