Marathi play Gholat Ghol again on stage

Playwright Baban Prabhu’s famous Marathi play Gholat Ghol has been once again readied for the stage after 36 years with a totally new look and by a new team. Produced by Santosh Shidam of Malhar, the play was staged on October 12 at Prabodhankar Thackeray Natyagruh at Borivli in Mumbai.

Well-known theatre director Vijay Kenkare has directed the version two of Gholat Ghol, which has incidentally became his 51st play as a director. Actor Ramesh Bhatkar, who is known for serious kind of character roles, has attempted the farce genre in comedy for the first time on stage.

Other actors in the play include Sanjay Narvekar Hemant Dhome, Vijay Patwardhan, Rasika Agashe, Rui Pawar, and Neha Kulkarni. The play has art direction by Rajan Bhise.
